Yi Gao is a journalist and visual storyteller with academic training in journalism, psychology, and advertising from Lanzhou University and the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri.

Through the lens, she strives to look closer, rethink what she sees, and engage with the complexities around her.

Her work explores themes of immigration, women’s experiences, and the lives of different communities.

Currently based in Columbia, Missouri, she continues to seek ways to document real lives with truth, depth, and creativity.
